The right compressor depends on how much air your work needs, at what pressure and for how long. These are the questions we start with.
Add up the running CFM of the tools that may work at the same time, then allow headroom. Our CFM calculator gives you a starting point.
Use the CFM calculatorLook for the CFM you need delivered at the pressure your tools require. A higher maximum PSI does not mean more usable airflow.
Steady, all-day demand calls for a compressor built for continuous duty. Occasional bursts of air use may suit a machine built for intermittent use.
Know the voltage and phase available for an electric compressor, or the fuel for an engine-driven one, before you choose.
A larger tank covers short bursts but does not add airflow. Filters and dryers help protect tools from moisture and oil.
Tell us where the compressor will sit: indoors or outdoors, how well it is ventilated and the temperatures it will face.
03 / Compressor types
Both types have a place. The right one depends on how your work uses air.
Built for steady, continuous demand and long run times. Usually quieter than a piston compressor, with a higher purchase price. A good fit when air has to be available for long stretches.
Often chosen for shops and jobsites where air use comes in bursts, and usually less costly to buy. Typically louder than a rotary screw machine, and not meant to run nonstop.
Exact capabilities vary by model and manufacturer. We’ll match the compressor type to your work.
04 / Quote checklist
A useful quote starts with a few details about your work. Don’t worry if you don’t have every answer. Share what you know and we’ll help with the rest.
